On 18 August, Nine graduates achieved a remarkable milestone as they completed the TAFISA Certified Leadership Course (CLC) for 2022/2023. The course, spanning from October 2022 to May 2023, was divided into two phases: the theoretical phase from October to December 2022 and the practical phase from December 2022 to May 2023. This structure allows participants to put theory into practice.

On 17 - 18 August, Keenese Katisenge-Tizhani, TAFISA's Vice President for Africa, and Game Mothibi, a Senior Manager, attended the Athletes Safeguarding Summit which hosted athletes, coaches, media and sports administrators for a two-day summit at Botho University in Gaborone under the theme of “My Safety, My Right”.

Safeguarding and Protecting Practitioners in Sport for All

Today, on the International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples, TAFISA proudly joins the global community in recognising and honouring the rich cultural heritage, traditions, and contributions of indigenous peoples around the world. 9 August, marks the date of the first meeting of the UN Working Group on Indigenous Populations of the Sub-Commission on the Promotion and Protection of Human Rights held in Geneva in 1982.

The Sports and Physical Activity in Cultural Heritage Environments (SPACHE) has successfully concluded its two-year implementation plan on 30 June, 2023, encompassing seven work packages.The project aimed to increase awareness, generate knowledge and build capacities that would facilitate the integration of cultural heritage and sport/physical activity initiatives.

On 11 July, the 3rd INTERACT+ partner meeting took place online. The partner meeting was necessary to discuss the already achieved deliverables, the general progress, the development of the project, and future steps to achieve the project.

On 22 - 24 June, 2023, the Sports, Medicine, and Health Summit (SMHS) was held in Hamburg, Germany. With the participation of 1,650 professionals including doctors, scientists, therapists, trainers, and enthusiasts from around the globe, the Summit set out to advance its vision of inspiring people to embrace active lifestyles and establish sports and exercise as fundamental pillars of individual and societal well-being.

The cooperation between TAFISA and the African Union Sports Council (AUSC) Region 5 has been strengthened further with the signing of an extension of the Memorandum of Understanding. This significant milestone was commemorated during the 7th International Conference of Ministers and Senior Officials Responsible for Physical Education and Sport (MINEPS VII) held in Baku.

The TAFISA Mission 2030 Workshop on „Creating Safe Environments to Build Cohesive Communities - How can Sport for All foster a culture of mutual understanding and tolerance?” took place on 04 July. The Workshop explored how Sport for All can be a powerful tool to promote peace, encourage community building, and support conflict prevention.

TAFISA attended the UNESCO Sports Ministers Conference (MINEPS VII) held in Baku, Azerbaijan, on 26 – 29 June.
